Odd One Out

(Excuse me while I dip back into my teenage angst era for some poetry)

Friends?
Yes, the best of friends.
Through thick and thin,
There for you through it all

But if we’re friends,
Then why do I feel so
Lonely

A house filled with laughter
And jokes
And happiness

Plans for the summer
Plans for a road trip
Vacation
And group outings

And yet
My opinion is worth nil
And the plan moves forward
Without me

Filled with so much angst
And being left in the dark
It’s hard to imagine
That we’re actually friends

But they show up
Week after week
For laughs and
Shared drinks

And even though
I sit amongst them
I’m not sure if
I belong

An odd one out
Stories cut off
Or ignored
Not quite… there

And it makes me wonder
If I didn’t sit there
Would they even

notice.
